    Family Photo Album

Today I wanted to make a small photo album for my friend. He had just moved to a new city, and sometimes he felt a little lonely. I thought: if he can look at my family, he will also feel warm. On the first page I wrote: “There are six people in my family.” There are Dad, Mum, older brother, older sister, younger brother, and me. In the first photo, Dad and Mum are chatting in the park. I wrote beside it: “This is my dad. He is a very good dad. This is my mum. She is a very good mum.” I also wrote one sentence: “With close family, ‘my dad’ and ‘my mum’ don’t need ‘de’; it sounds more natural.” In the second photo, my older brother is listening to music. I wrote: “He is my older brother. He often helps me with homework.” In the third photo, my older sister and I are jogging in the park. I smiled and wrote: “This is my older sister. She really likes exercise.” In the fourth photo, my younger brother is eating biscuits. I wrote: “He is my younger brother. He is very cute.” Finally, I took the album to my friend’s place. He opened it and looked while saying, “So good!” Just then, my parents suddenly came. Dad said, “Welcome—come eat dinner!” Mum also said, “Come in, let’s eat together!” My friend jumped in surprise, then laughed and said, “This really is double happiness!”

Later, she learns that owning a car also means maintenance and responsibility. Over time, Xiao Li becomes more mature and proud of her choice.

    New Year in the City

Today is the day before New Year, and Zhang Lei and his family are very busy in the city. Mum is cooking in the kitchen, Dad is cleaning the living room, and little sister is tidying her clothes in the bedroom because tomorrow they will go to a friend’s home to celebrate the New Year together.

In the afternoon, Zhang Lei goes to the mall with his friend to shop. There are many red lanterns and colored lights in the mall, and at the door of every shop there is a big New Year sign with “Happy New Year” written on it. There are many people and everyone is very happy.

Zhang Lei wants to buy a new piece of clothing for his mum and also a gift for his little sister. He sees a red dress that is very pretty and also very cheap, so he buys it for his sister. For his mum, he buys a blue top, because blue is her favorite color.

In the evening, the streets are full of people. The street lights and big screens all light up. Some people are dancing, some are singing, and others are taking photos. There are stars in the sky, and everyone is waiting for midnight.

Dad takes the whole family to their friend’s home. The friend’s home is not far, only ten minutes on foot. On the way, they walk and talk at the same time, chatting about their plans for next year.

When they arrive, the door is already open and good smells and laughter come from inside. Their friends have already arrived and are sitting around the table together. On the table there are many dishes: dumplings, noodles, beef, and fruit.

Everyone eats and chats. Some people watch TV and some play games. On TV, a New Year’s Eve show is playing. Little sister especially likes dancing, so she dances together with the other friends.

When it is almost midnight, everyone goes outside to watch the fireworks. At the same time, the big clock in the city center starts to strike. Everyone counts down together, and when they reach zero, the sky is full of colorful fireworks and they all shout “Happy New Year!”

At that moment, Zhang Lei gives a small gift to his mum, dad, and little sister. He thanks them for taking care of him during the year and hopes that next year everyone will be healthy and that his studies will be even better. His family feel very moved after hearing this.

On the way home, the city is already quieter than before. On the sides of the road they can still see the lights from the shops and a little smoke from the fireworks. Zhang Lei feels that today is very special, because he not only celebrated the New Year with family and friends, he also wrote down his own wishes.

After arriving home, he puts a New Year card on his desk. On it he writes: “Study hard, spend more time with family, and be a good friend.” Smiling, he turns off the light and goes to sleep, hoping that the new year will be even better.

    Weekly Review

This week, through different stories, I rediscovered my daily life. Although each day was arranged differently, I gradually learned how to express my opinions in Chinese. At work, I need to communicate with colleagues, explain my ideas, and listen carefully to others.

One day, I went shopping at a store, compared prices and quality, and finally made my own choice. I realized that explaining preferences in Chinese is not difficult as long as the reasons are clear.

When chatting with friends, we often give each other suggestions. For example, when discussing travel plans, some people like quiet places while others prefer lively cities. Through discussion, we learn to respect different ideas and make decisions together.

At the weekend, I reviewed everything and found that I could already tell a complete story in Chinese more naturally. Although there are still some difficulties, with more practice and retelling, I believe my Chinese will continue to improve.

The Story of the Monkey King

Long ago, on a high mountain, there lived a clever monkey named Sun Wukong. He was born from a stone and had magical powers from childhood.
Sun Wukong loved adventures and played every day with friends. He learned martial arts and could change into different forms.
One day, he heard that the Heavenly Palace had magical treasures. He decided to go search. He flew to the sky and met fairies and gods, who were surprised by his bravery.
After getting the treasures, Sun Wukong learned more magic, could fly, become invisible, and defeat enemies with his golden staff. He returned to the mountain and shared the treasures with his friends, and everyone was very happy.
Although Sun Wukong could be mischievous sometimes and liked jokes, he was kind-hearted and protected the weak and his friends. Everyone respected him and learned from his bravery and clever spirit.
Sun Wukong’s story has been passed down and is an important part of Chinese culture. It teaches people to be brave, clever, and kind, and reminds everyone not to be arrogant but to respect others.
