Learning to Cook Chinese Food

I’ve recently become interested in cooking Chinese food. In the past I never cooked, only ate takeout. But takeout is unhealthy, and moreover it costs a lot of money. So I started learning to cook.

At the beginning, I didn’t even know how to cut vegetables. I went online to search for videos and followed along to learn. I chose the simplest dish: tomato scrambled eggs. I bought ingredients and made it following the steps. The first time I made it wasn’t very good—the eggs were a bit overcooked, and the dish was also a bit salty.

But I didn’t give up. I continued practicing and gradually improved. Now I already know how to make quite a few dishes: vegetable tofu soup, soy sauce chicken, and dry-fried green beans. My friends often come to my house to eat. They all say my food is getting more and more delicious. I’m very proud.

Cooking has made me discover that learning things requires patience. As long as you persist, you will definitely succeed. Next week, I plan to challenge myself to make dumplings. Although it’s relatively difficult, I believe I can learn it.
